How to wear a Fraas scarf (product review)

Oct 22, 2011 by

The lovely folks over at Lipton Publicity sent me a scarf to review. Initially I thought I wouldn’t be able to give it a solid review because the weather here in Atlanta had been very warm and lovely up until about two weeks ago.

I was attending a fashion show one evening and I wanted to wear a nice dress. It had been warm but the temperature was supposed to drop later that night. I decided this was a great time to truly test out the Fraas scarf that Lipton Publicity sent me. I wasn’t sure if it would really keep me warm since it wasn’t very thick. But, the scarf took great care of me. When we left the fashion show the temperature had indeed dropped and it was very windy. So my cute little sleeveless dress was at the mercy of the wind. I tossed the scarf over my shoulders and was warmed. I thought I’d do a little video to show you how versatile this scarf is.

This is a great scarf because it’s versatile and stylish but not overly trendy. It can really add to your scarf wardrobe and be worn for many cold weather seasons. If you’d like to get one, visit www.fraas.com/en.

I hope you enjoy the video.

How do I wear that trend…snakeskin shoes

Oct 20, 2011 by

http://www.hwsands.com/category/139.aspx

I was quite pleased to see snakeskin shoes as one of the hot fall trends for 2011. In recent years, I have become a big fan of animal print in manageable doses. Shoes is the best way to wear a sassy animal print while keeping the rest of your outfit simple and classic. It makes your shoes the statement piece and they will really pop.

And you know how much I love it when a fabulous pair of shoes are allowed to pop.

If you’re unsure how to work those snakeskin shoes into your wardrobe here are some colors they will go well with.

1. Black. If you’re the type to wear all black often, a pair of snakeskin shoes are a great pop of color, so to speak.

2. Red. With red or any other bright color, snakeskin becomes the neutral and pulls it all together. Wear them with a great red dress or a cute red top and jeans.

3. Gray. Most snakeskin shoes have some type of the color gray in them so this is an easy match without being too matchy matchy.

If your shoe wardrobe consists mainly of black and brown shoes, branch out with a pair of snakeskin shoes. If you’re unsure, go with a pair of snakeskin pumps. You can’t go wrong with snakeskin pumps!

Your underwear-choosing the right bra

Oct 13, 2011 by

Ladies! I have a good friend who is very adamant about making sure her boobs aren’t low in her outfits and it has affected the way I move about the world.

As a busty lady, I am always being made aware of my breasts and how they look in different types of clothes. I learned early on (elementary school) that even in a loose fitting t-shirt, my breasts can be distracting to people (mainly guys). Now as a young lady growing up, I was self conscious about everything already so being top heavy was just another thing for me to think about. Thankfully, as I got older, I settled into my body and decided that aside from getting a breast reduction (which I have no medical reason to do), the best way for me to look polished was to buy bras that fit and supported me.

Now this initially led to me wearing lots of very utilitarian bras (what I call over the shoulder boulder holders) that weren’t very pretty but they worked. But I slowly got to the point where I wanted to wear pretty bras and then came the problems. I found lots of pretty bras for smaller breast sizes but very few for me. Then when I did find them, they fit horribly. So I was once again self conscious about my boobs and then I began to notice that lots of women were wearing bras that didn’t properly accent their boobs, size notwithstanding. I thank my friend for being the great boob equalizer. I realized that wearing the wrong bra had nothing to do with the size of a ladies’ chest but a lack of knowledge about how to make the right choice.

So….ta da! Here is a video about choosing the right bra. It’s from the folks over at Daily Candy and I love how they feature one woman who’s on the thinner side and a woman who’s more curvy. So this video is for you all! Enjoy and take heed. Be more proactive about your underwear, ladies.

How do I wear that trend…wedge shoes

Sep 30, 2011 by

http://intheircloset.com/akiko-ogawa-metal-plated-wedge-boots

For a shoe lover like myself, this is an easy one but I’ve noticed that wedges can be worn improperly just like any other pair of shoes. Wedges are pretty easy to incorporate into your shoe wardrobe but there are some tips for you ladies who haven’t worn them before.

1. Be realistic with height. Yes wedges are more sturdy than stilettoes but if you are used to wearing flats and kitten heels, you will not be able to walk in four inch wedges. Wedges come in a variety of sizes and just like any other heel, have to be eased into. Start with a low wedge and go from there.

2. Platforms are key. If you are a high heel wearer and see a fabulous pair of wedges that are tall and sexy, beware. Try to find a pair with a platform in the front to balance out the wedge. Just like heels, if a wedge doesn’t have a front platform, it can become very uncomfortable and cause you to lean forward when you walk. We don’t want that.

3. Do a 360 check in the shoe mirror before purchase. Because wedges are wider than stilettoes, they don’t automatically make your calf look good. Sometimes wedges are designed in a way that makes them look clunky on some people. You don’t want to look like you’re wearing old school orthopaedic shoes.

These are some basic tips. Wedges are wonderful and look great. I own a few pair myself but just because the heel is wide, doesn’t mean they are automatically comfortable or easy to walk in. Try them on and walk around before you buy them. Overall, you want to make sure you are wearing the shoes and they’re not wearing you.

How do I wear that trend…fringe

Sep 23, 2011 by

Ok ladies, fringe is back. It comes and goes occasionally as a trend and for some reason when people do fringe, they look like they just escaped from a rodeo. Now, this isn’t true for every occasion, but I’ve seen it happen before and I’d like to do my part to stop it.

Fringe is really cool and it’s an easy trend to participate in. However, unless you are a full fledged cow girl or a biker lady, I would caution against going really heavy on the trend by wearing pieces like these:

Now this lady would look fabulous on a Harley riding down the highway, but she would look a tad over the top if you saw her grocery shopping.

The key to doing the fringe trend is “less is more”. Go light on the fringe and wear it with one portion of your outfit rather than two or more. Here are some fringe pieces where “less is more” is practiced.

So enjoy this cool western inspired trend with ease! But please, don’t overdo it.

How do I wear that trend…wide leg pants

Sep 17, 2011 by

http://tweet.iblog.co.za/2011/03/18/fashion-friday-70s-style-wide-leg-pants/

Wide leg pants is a trend that can look really good but can’t be worn recklessly. This trend looks best on tall, leggy ladies but it can be worn by shorter ladies if done so subtly. Because with wide pants, theĀ  width brings the eye down, it can easily make you look shorter than you are. So, if you’re not a tall or leggy lady, I would suggest finding pants that are only slightly wide legged and make sure you do a 360 turn in the mirror.

I like how wide leg pants can look when worn properly. In fact, I’ve worn them myself even though I’m all of 5’5. But when I wore them, I made it a point to wear a tailored shirt and high heels. You really want to make sure that the legs are the widest part of your outfit otherwise, it could really make you look heavy in general. The good thing about wearing wide leg pants is that it can really make your waist and hips look smaller because all of the volume is near your ankles.

I wanted to touch on this trend for a few reasons.

1. It will be easy to find and incorporate into your wardrobe so many people will want to try it out.

2. It should be worn with caution and care. You have to make sure the pants don’t make you look like a bell.

This is a trend that I suggest everyone tread carefully with but don’t discount it completely. That’s the cool thing about fashion. There is a level of experimentation involved in it. Just make sure you go shopping with your honest, but not mean friend or family member to give you their opinion of how you look in the pants.
