Don’t do that…fashion don’ts

I went out this past Friday night with some friends.  It was a lovely, late summer night.  It wasn’t too hot but it was warm enough for the short shorts and strappy sandals to still be in full effect.  This will be another feature segment that I will write every so often discussing things that people should not do.

When I went out, I saw so many offenses that I will just list them here and explain why you shouldn’t do it.

1.  Boots in August.  Don’t do this because it’s just not seasonally correct.  There are some very specific exceptions.  The current trend of wearing a sleeveless, summery dress with some cute boots (often low heeled or flat) makes it somewhat more acceptable to wear boots in August but I saw a lady with jeans and some very cute calf high boots and a tank top.  Don’t do that.  Wait until at least October if you live in a warmer climate or mid September if you live in a cooler climate.  Now I’m sure some people may disagree with this one, but I think we should respect the seasons with our outfits.

2.  High waisted shorts that are too tight and make you look uncomfortably jacked up.  Don’t do this because it is not flattering.  As I said in this post How do I wear that trend…high waisted, “if you put on anything high waisted and you look jacked up or sausage-y in any way, take the item off”.  Apparently the lady that I saw looking both jacked up and sausage-y didn’t check her full length mirror.

3.  Too short shorts.  Don’t do this because it’s not tasteful.  I saw a lady with a very cute white shorts jumpsuit on but the shorts were waaaaay too short.  So in addition to seeing her cute jumpsuit, I also saw way too much of her butt.  It was hanging out below the shorts.  She kept tugging at the shorts but it was impossible to pull them down so her cute outfit lost a lot of its cuteness because it wasn’t tasteful.

These are just three things that I saw this weekend.  I have pledged to be more diligent about carrying a camera around with me to show you guys visuals of what not to do so stay tuned for more of this feature.
